Developing a Marketing Plan Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Developing a Marketing Plan - Assignment Example Devising a course of action that can give a detailed description of a product proposed by a firm may be a complex matter since the plan has to incorporate market segments, have a clearly defined data that is relevant to the identified market, and compose of an implementation plan (Steinberg, 2011:5). The task of this is to plan and describe a research programme to identify attractive market segments relevant to a product that I will propose and estimate the size of the relevant to it. After analysing a number of factors such as category involvement, product preference motivators, product purchasing patterns and media habits, this research paper resolved to propose consumer electronics as the product of choice. By use of market planning tools that include market segmentation indicators such as psychographics and psychographics, the identified plan described this market as suitable for selling consumer electronics (Steinberg, 2011:8). This is because, upon dividing the estimated total population of the market into subsets using demographic indicators, research identified a variety of market segments that include light, heavy, and medium consumers of consumer electronics (Miller, 2010:6). ... The plan also identified who belong to the same age pattern but exhibit more streams of concurrent customers (Alcock, 2003:7). As such, by use of a computer assisted personal interviewing (CAPI), this research essay managed to produce the following data. There are older men and women who consume the proposed product excessively; there are people who look like concurrent customers, people who would not use the product, while there are others who would buy the product upon spotting it on the market (Steinberg, 2011:11). Additionally, when the research changed its planning methodology and used face-to-face interviews, it established that 10 percent of the overall population aged between 18 and 49 would buy the product if it had promoting incentives (Miller, 2010:9-10). On the other end, 9 percent of the market population, just as illustrated by the demographic measures, would buy the product if satisfied their needs in terms of quality and durability. Using the same methodology of data collection, this research paper found out that there are five different benefit segments and five diverse personality segments as well as six unique attitude segments (Steinberg, 2011:15). This data is relevant to the proposed product because, in this age and date, as far as marketing and sales goes, there is increased personalization whereby some people might even argue that the product offers some potential target markets that are equal or uniform to the identified population. Marketing mix After setting research results, the research team deployed polls about public beliefs whereby it found out that this market segment is democratic and people belief in preferences and media information (Kline, 2006:5). After that, recommended marketing

The experiment that Stanley Milgram conducted in the 1960s provided Essay

The experiment that Stanley Milgram conducted in the 1960s provided empirical evidence in favour of what is now referred to as t - Essay Example The results of the experiment have been proved by many other researchers in later studies, which explored the small-world effect in various types of networks. It has been verified that the small-world effect can be seen in different extent in a number of the real-world networks. The small-world phenomenon has made a great contribution in the theory of networks as it helped to better understand the structure and dynamics of the complex networks. This paper intends to discuss the Milgram's experiment and to explore in what extent the small-world effect can be found in three main classes of networks – random graphs, scale-free networks and small-world networks. Keywords: networks, social networks, small-world, six degree, random graph, scale-free networks. Introduction It is widely acknowledged that networks are all around people; and people themselves as socio-biological systems are, for the most part, products of biochemical reactions and social relationships occurring in netwo rks. Networks are studied since 1736, at first in the domain of mathematical graph theory (Biggs et al., 1986), which has been gradually developed into the solid branch of knowledge that studies nature and properties of different networks, from very simple to large and complex networks that have irregular structure and complex dynamics. Examples of such networks can be found everywhere in nature and in society – food networks of biological species, communication networks and the Internet, social networks between individuals, transportation networks, metabolic and neural networks, and many others. Nowadays the study of networks got significant achievements in understanding of specific features, some of which have been investigated in depth only in the past few decades, with the advent of information and communications technologies and, particularly, the Internet. One of the fundamental features of networks was discovered in 1967, when a famous social psychologist Stanley Milgr am conducted a series of experiments, revealing that in spite of the enormous number of the global population, our world is actually rather small - any individual on the planet can reach any other individual through about six contacts in their social network. The phenomenon was called the small-world effect, while the modern popular scientific literature often mentions it as the â€Å"six degrees of separation† effect (Watts, 1999). The results of the Milgram’s experiments have been proved in a large number of experiments of other researchers. The phenomenon appears to be extremely useful for understanding the structure and dynamics of processes that takes place in different networks, for example the dynamics of spread of information across the network, or the dynamics of diffusions of epidemic diseases in a society. The small-world effect can be viewed in different networks; however, each of these networks has the distinctive characteristics, related to its structure and dynamics, so there are certain differences in the manifestations of the small-world effect in various networks. This essay intends to discuss the Milgram's experiment and to explore in what extent the small-world effect can be found in networks, namely, in three main kinds of networks – in classical random graphs; in scale-free networks, introduced by Barabasi and Albert (1999); and in small-world networks, invented by Watts and Strogatz (1998). The paper is aimed to show

Mirrors Essay Example for Free

Mirrors Essay As long as I can remember, I’ve always perceived mirrors as something inimical. To be honest, I hate mirrors most of the time. But, today I’m sitting in front of one, and a beautiful woman is looking back at me. It’s time to fight my fear and hatred, time to look closely at who I am, and to decide who I want to become. It’s time to accept that mirrors exist. I look at my hands at first. Small and white, they are, the hands of the person who never did any hard labor, the musician’s hands. They remind me of all the people I hugged and touched with my smile, of my friends, who are like family members to me. There are quite a lot of people I can recall, as I’ve always been sociable, not afraid to talk to an unfamiliar person. A chatterbox, my Mom calls me. It’s not that I like to talk so much; it is rather that I believe that people should communicate and become closer to make this world better. People are always trying to find and create differences, like races, different religions or sexual preferences. My upbringing has caused me to have a very open minded about life and the world around me. As I brush back my dark brown hair and expose my ears, I am reminded of the music that lives in my soul. Form the early childhood the elegant splendor of the violin hypnotized me, made me forget about everything I knew and felt. Now I’m 22, and I am pursuing my passion to the fullest being enrolled in the conservatory. When I hear music inside me, I feel free, I see myself dancing through the shiny big hall in the candlelight. I have dreamed of being able to dance since I was a child, and, maybe the greatest my dream is to be able to dance. I want to experience the ability to feel the ground move below my feet and the wind upon my face as I elegantly float across the dance floor. When I close my eyes and play my wish becomes reality within my imagination. And than I look into my reflections eyes, the most feared moment in the whole procedure. I still can’t see vivid blue there rather the darkness of my past that became part of my present. When I look into my eyes I always think of thee one, who created me, and who made me who I am. I think of my father, and, like every time I do it, it hurts almost physically. His abusive ways made my life much more complicated and less carefree than it could be. When I think about it I always begin to put useless questions to myself, like: â€Å"What if he hit her differently? What if my mother never talked back that night? † I still can not understand how a person could physically harm someone carrying his unborn child. Nevertheless, what happened remains a fact. It’s unlikely that I will be able to walk at all. In the same time, it is my past that makes me stronger, and is the motivating force behind my thirst for success. The woman in the mirror looks at me smiling, but her eyes are wet. I look at her full lips and recall all of the unspoken words I keep inside myself. In fact, my fear of commitment and falling in love is my biggest challenge in life. I still cannot forgive my father, who left Mom, right after my birth, and I’m just afraid to trust so much, like loving people should trust each other. Nevertheless, I hope that some day I will be ready to accept what the world will give me. I hope I will meet a person whom I will be able to trust, and who will appreciate me for who I am. I strongly believe in love yet seem to know how to give it rather than receive. The clock counts seconds and minutes, and I still look at the women in front of me. She is living, breathing, and often smiling. She is just like everyone else; except for the metal chair that surrounds her. Usually, it is the first element people note when they see me, and the hardest task is not to let their perception of me affect my mentality, and limit my possibilities. I hate the word â€Å"disabled†. Dis-abled means â€Å"not able†, and it’s not about me. I am able to see the world around me, to sing and to smile, to set the goals and reach them, and to inspire people around me. My chair will not be a limitation as I continue to strive for excellence and live a life of great fulfillment.

Aimster Debate :: essays research papers

Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The idea of sharing media files over the Internet has become a controversial subject as of late. While file sharing applications such as Napster are currently under fire from the US government and from Music Recording companies, one would think that no one would try to mimic Napster’s technology. Johnny Deep, a computer consultant in Troy, New York, has been hailed as the creator of â€Å"The Next Napster†. Deep is the mind behind â€Å"Aimster†, named after his daughter, Aimee. Aimster piggybacks the common and very popular instant- messaging services such as AOL Instant Messenger, AOL, and MSN Messaging Service. Aimster, a free download from www.aimster.com, allows users to swap files with users on the buddy lists, or there is the option of searching all Aimster users with a â€Å"guest† option. Not only can users share audio files; they can share their pictures, their winamp playlists, and any other file on their computer. As of Janu ary 2001 Aimster racked up over 3 million users worldwide. AOL and other messaging services cannot block Aimster use, since it does not run through ISP Servers, rather, every Aimster member’s personal computer acts as a server.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The controversy continues as more and more Napster wanna-be’s are thrown into the mix. Deep believes that the Recording Industry will have less of a problem with his software, since Aimster users only share their files with friends and family on their buddy list, an act that is similar to loaning a CD to a friend – which is hardly illegal. In interview, Deep was quoted as saying â€Å"A lot of people say we’ll be sued not because we are doing anything wrong, but because we are successful.†   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In my opinion, file-sharing should not be getting the negative media attention that it does. I am an avid user of all file-sharing applications: Napster, Aimster, KaZaA and scour. I have over 600 mp3 files on my computer, and I’m downloading three more while I type this. I use file sharing not only as a way to download a song that I hear on the radio, but to look for new music.

Operations Management Of The Kroger Company Essay

Operations Management of the Kroger Company Operations management is essential for the survival and success of any organization. According to Heizer Render (2011), operations management (OM) is the set of activities that creates value in the form of goods and services by transforming inputs into outputs. Operations managers today contend with competition, globalization, inflation, consumer demand, and consistent change in technology. Managers must focus on the efficiency and effectiveness of processes such as cost, dependability, distribution, flexibility, and speed. The intent of this paper is to discuss the processes and operations management of the Kroger Company. History and Background Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, The Kroger Company is one of the largest supermarket retailers across the United States.
